Grant Requests

Requests for grants are sought each year. Grant decisions are made by an Advisory Board composed  individuals who have committed themselves to Shoreview over the years.  Minnesota Philanthropy Partners provides guidance on grant-making and handles money management and investment services.

Grant Awards

2018 Grants Awarded:

Shoreview Historical Society and City of Shoreview:  Fund a history intern to create a strategic interpretive plan for Heritage Park and the Lepak/Larson House

Ralph Reeder Food Shelf: 
Fund furniture and food storage units/supplies for new Mounds View location.

Pinewood Elementary School: 
Fund Heart of Dance program which allows 120 students to access high quality social- emotional learning through dance instruction-matching funds   

Northeast Youth & Family Services: 
Fund Client Hospitality Space – spatial improvements to the Trauma-Informed Care waiting room.     

Midwest Special Services: 
Empower individuals with disabilities. Improve outdoor space, invite members of the community to join MSS in 3 beekeeping workshops.

Mounds View Orchestral Association: 
Support Rock Orchestra Concert and provide instrument tuners.


2017 Grants Awarded:

Gallery 96:  Grant for guest speakers and workshops at the library.  

Shoreview Historical Society:  Grant will be used to frame historical photos at the library. 

Slice of Shoreview:  Grant to help provide food and entertainment for Shoreview’s 60th birthday party at the Slice of Shoreview on July 22, 2017.

Career Life Transition Program:  Grant money will provide the program with a Zero Food Recycler and treadmill.  This program serves special needs students (ages 18-21) of which 93% are from Shoreview.  Students prepare for jobs, operate thrift store, and learn cooking skills.

Mounds View Community Theatre:  Grant will be utilized for “Pay What You Can” tickets for HMS Pinafore July 19 & 26.

  • Emmet D Williams Elementary School PTA for playground equipment
  • Ralph Reeder Food Shelf for a laptop computer to track services off-site and Community Food Drive Tool Kits
  • Ramsey County Library - Shoreview for a 3D printer
  • Northeast Youth and Family Services for a comprehensive upgrade of its website
  • The Mounds View Community Theater for major sponsorship of its production of ‘Crazy for You’
  • Turtle Lake Elementary PTA for "A Playground for Everyone," an inclusive playground in Shoreview, MN
  • Ralph Reeder Foodshelf for purchase, installation, and training of the shelf saver software/database
  • Shoreview Northern Lights Variety Band- to help sponsor a community Band Festival in the Shoreview Commons
  • Mounds View High School Volunteer Service Club - to assist in its development and staffing
  • Northwest Youth and Family Services - to help upgrade their Therapeutic Tools Library
  • Shoreview Historical Society- to repair windows on the Historic Guerin Gas Station
  • Gallery 96 Art Center-to produce a community art project
  • Shoreview-Einhausen Sister City Association-to help host the community band from Einhausen, Germany
  • Slice of Shoreview Committee-to sponsor the performance by the Teddy Bear band at Slice of Shoreview
  • Mounds View Community Theater-to assist in costs for production of Les Miserables
  • Lakeshore Players Theater-to assist in costs for summer youth performing arts camps.

Grant Considerations

An advisory board of Shoreview residents and friends annually selects grant recipients based on established criteria focused in the following areas:

  • Arts and cultural organizations
  • Recreational places such as parks and trails, as well as places for reflection and relaxation such as open space, wetland, and woodlands
  • Community enhancements and leadership development
  • Historical preservation
  • Human service organizations
