SHOREVIEW COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

CELEBRATING OUR ROOTS, GROWING OUR BRANCHES

  • Encouraging health and fitness
  • Nurturing cultural expression
  • Building bridges and growing interconnectedness
  • Learning from the past and honoring our heritage
  • Building toward the future
  • Providing emergency relief
  • Supporting peace and prosperity
  • Enabling a nonprofit to purchase much needed equipment

The Shoreview Community Foundation (SCF) was established in 2008 by community leaders who understood that the solutions to some community needs were more suited to citizen initiative than to governmental action.  Owing to this insight, for the past fourteen years the SCF has awarded financial support to trusted non-profit grantees, who, in turn, have provided valuable, targeted services in the Shoreview area.

From a donor point of view, the SCF makes it possible for public spirited citizens, with varied interests and capacity for giving, to participate in philanthropic activities for the benefit of our community.
The Foundation operates as a separate charitable fund under the umbrella of the Saint Paul and Minnesota Foundation, from whose experienced staff the SCF receives professional advice and support. The Saint Paul Foundation has custody of and manages the investments and provides operational oversight.

MISSION
To maintain, enhance and enrich the quality of life in Shoreview by connecting the generosity of our residents with the community’s evolving needs.

Fulfilling the Mission facilitates Shoreview being a more just, prosperous, enjoyable, healthy, and attractive place to live.  Grants provided bring to reality opportunities to accomplish many of the following community-focused goals::

  • Bringing people together
  • Enriching the lives of residents and guests
  • Strengthening education
  • Cultivating healthy youth
  • Fulfilling the dreams of youth and adults
  • Supporting justice and equality
  • Protecting our natural environment of lakes, parkland and open spaces
  • Supporting human rights

This Shoreview-focused avenue for philanthropy offers financial support to qualified local not-for-profit and governmental organiztions which sustain and facilitate positive results for Shoreview citizens.  Combining resources makes a difference.  Your passion becomes reality.

HOW WE ACCOMPLISH OUR MISSION

We depend on the goodwill and generosity of others to achieve our mission and there are many ways to support our community and give to the Shoreview Community Foundation:

  • Individual Gifts
  • Family Gifts
  • Business Donations
  • Wills and Trusts
  • Life Insurance Policies
  • Gifts of Stock or Other Investment Instruments
  • Property

Undesignated gifts to the Foundation's permanent endowment fund allow the Foundation to use its discretion to identify where there is the greatest need, often times in response to a critical community need, or a new opportunity. Designated gifts allow the donor to specify an area where their gift should be used. (Designated fund minimum of $25,000).

IMPACT
Your generous support enables the people we serve reach their personal goals and potential through individualized services and supports. Your gift helps remove barriers, offer creative solutions, see opportunities, and turn hope into success. While the majority of the peoples we serve have intellectual or developmental disabilities, we also support adults living with mental health issues, significant medical and physical disabilities, traumatic brain injuries and other challenges. Your gift makes a difference in their lives.’ – MSS Shoreview

This year we were faced with extra challenges. The Foundation’s grant enabled us to meet these challenges in the areas of Sound, Lighting, Staging and Publicity. Thank you!’ – Mounds View Community Theatre

Thank you for your grant to help us build a client hospitality area in our Shoreview office waiting room. This will significantly bring us closer to becoming a trauma-informed care organization, enabling us to enhance our quality of care resulting in a stronger relationship between trauma survivors and providers. Through your generous support, we are making a difference in the lives of people in our community.’ – Northeast Youth & Family Services
